The couple now taking a “gap year” to travel the world with their six-year-old daughter says the adventure is cheaper than staying in the UK.

The epic journey meant leaving their jobs, homes and family behind. It also means taking the nira out of school, for a few months Strict budgeting.
However, after leaving Cheshire in mid-July, they discover that despite Haley, 37, and Lewis, 45, crossing the continent, they are saving money by being on the road.

The couple settled on a budget of between £2,000 and £3,000 (approximately $2,300-$3,500) per month. It’s enough to visit all the dream locations.
When they first started cutting to save for their trip, they were shocked at how much they were spending at home: average £4,000-5,000 (about $4,600-5,800).

These figures are far from current living and rental costs, with couples estimated at about 50% less.
Saving money wasn’t on their agenda at the start of the trip. I took him to Australia 2022. They then tried to catch and chase a travel bug.

Haley, who worked in recruitment until she left her job in the year of her trip, told Jam Press:
“We wanted more time, more adventures and more freedom for our daughter.”
Haley calls it the best decision he’s ever made, but says it’s not without challenges.

The couple knew they would face concerns from friends and family about unconventional choices, but it was deep enough to be the right decision Their family.

Nila’s school was extremely supportive when the couple retracted their daughter. Haley says that the process found it surprisingly simple.
Their daughter has since started online tutoring consistent with the UK curriculum and has temporarily registered and continued her education at a multicultural school in Bali.
The family kickstarted their trip Disneyland Parisbefore celebrating Naira’s birthday and traveling around Italy for four weeks.
“Compared to juggling school runs in late-night emails… I always have travel disruptions.”
“At age 6, Naira still wants to spend every second with us, and I know that it won’t last forever,” says Haley.
From there they flew to Bali. There they remain and continue their exploration until November.
“We are in awe of some of the places we saw, and it’s become even more magical as we are experiencing the world through the eyes of a little girl, carving historic landmarks,” she says.
