Cleveland Guardians MLB was placed on multidisciplinary paid leave hours before pitcher Louis Ortiz was expected to snatch the mound against the Chicago Cubs on Thursday.
The nature of the league’s investigation was not immediately clear.

Ortiz will continue his paid leave until the end of the All-Star break in his first season with the Guardians. MLB The study added that it would not comment further until the probe was completed.

The Guardian also issued a statement following the announcement of MLB.
“The Guardian has been notified by Major League Baseball that Louis Ortiz has been placed on leave in accordance with an agreement with the Players Association, due to an ongoing league investigation.

The 26-year-old right-handed pitcher was acquired in a deal to Cleveland. Pittsburgh Pirates That included Michael Kennedy and Josh Hartl in exchange for Spencer Holwitz.
With 16 starts from the Guardian, Ortiz is 4-9 with ERA 4.36 and 96 strikeouts. His losses are now the most tied in the American League.
