The Supreme Court on Thursday decided to consider a state ban on trans athletes taking part in public school sports.
There will be verbal discussions later this fall regarding two incidents in Idaho and West Virginia. In both cases, the focus is on state laws that prevent biological men from competing with women’s sports teams.
“It’s a great day with women athletes in West Virginia hearing their voices,” West Virginia Attorney General John McCasky said in a statement. “The people of West Virginia know that it’s unfair for male athletes to compete with women. That’s why they passed this common sense law to maintain women’s sport for women.”
“We are confident that the Supreme Court will support the Save Women’s Sports Act because it is in compliance with the US Constitution and is in compliance with Title IX,” McCuskey said. “And most importantly, we protect women and girls by ensuring that the arena is safe and fair.”
