The angler just broke new fishing records in Tarheel.
Warren Poilier of Charles City, Virginia caught a 56-pound, 4.8-ounce Almacojack in North Carolina.
The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) Marine Fisheries Division recently certified a new record fish.

Poilier I was fishing According to a press release from NCDEQ, along with Captain James Bowman, on “The Rocks” by Outer Banks.
The fish were fighting Amaco Jack, also known as Seriola Riboriana, for 45 minutes, so they attacked the brand jig of Poilier skin.

Poilier also used his Shimano Trevara rod Saltist 5000 reel With an 80-pound braid, the release states.

The fish extended the length of a 46-inch fork with a 31-inch girth, from the tip of its nose to the fork on its tail.

The Almaco Jacks have a long body that is dimly lit and light amber/olive striped sides, according to the National Marine and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries.

According to a press release from NCDEQ, North Carolina’s previous Almaco Jack records were recorded at 33 pounds and 12.6 ounces in 2024.
