Volunteers were confused recently when they unearthed not one but two ancient shoes. Historic British Site.
The discovery was made in Magna Ancient Roman fort In late May, in Northumberland. The Roman Army Museum, near Brampton’s Fort, made an announcement.
The photo shows volunteers holding amazingly preserved leather shoes despite being buried for 2,000 years.

A volunteer named Joe found his first shoes. This “seems to leave all the only tiers intact,” the organization said.
The heel area of the shoe is still attached. Its outer sole still contains hob nails. Officials said the discoveries shed light on how these shoes were made.

Eventually, another footwear was found.
The second shoe was roughly equivalent to the size 14 of a US man who impressed the volunteers.
