Jose Aliga, an archaeologist with utility company Caridda, told The Associated Press that the burial was undoubtedly Hispanic.

“We found evidence that there could be a body and pre-Hispanic burial,” Aliga said.

Peter Van Darren, dean of Peru’s University of Archaeologists, told the Associated Press that it’s not uncommon to encounter a body in Lima.
